Just back from a great visit with my family - the entire bunch. Jane & co. were in from Dubai, Susan & co. and Mom & Dad - all together. (I'll post pics from that separately!) For now I have a great story to tell...
Friday Don, Soph and I were just home from the grocery store - I was carrying in groceries, Don & Soph were covering the boat, and I got a call from the "206" area code which didn't really suprise me because we had been discussing a document from our dossier with our case worker the prior week. HOWEVER, after the niceties of hellos, etc, she asked in Don was available for a conversation. I instantly though this could actually be "the call"! Totally taken off gaurd though because just the day before we had heard that referrals were coming in a few weeks!! I had tears in my eyes as I got Don in the house and we sat together as Andrea told us of a little girl, 2 months old who is at the Ajuuja orphanage in southern Ethiopia. We went over a lot of detail, which was all a blur once I got off the phone! Minutes later we got a file on her and are in love. We spoke with our international adoption pediatrician this morning and she is in excellent health, well nourished, and there are no major concerns. We'll continue to get monthly updates on her development until we travel in late October/early November for a court date, and should have her home by the end of the year! What an excellent day!
One of the greatest parts of the weekend was that we spent it with our friends Kelly and Kevin who we met thru the Boston Ethiopian Family group. It was so great to share the excitement with a family who has "been there". Thanks for your support, enthusiasm and friendship K&K, we had a great time with you and the kids!
We are so lucky, blessed, estatic and again, waiting... but this time around seems just a bit easier! I'll keep you posted!
